Business.govt.nz has introduced a new Employee cost calculator tool which looks to help small to medium sized business make cost effective hiring decisions.

Using data from government agencies and Trade Me Jobs, the calculator tailors employment cost to your industry and the type of role you?re looking at, giving you an estimate of the fixed and discretionary costs of taking additional employees. The tool can give you an immediate breakdown of costs like:

  • ACC levies
  • KiwiSaver contributions
  • Fringe benefit tax
  • Cost of employing someone in the first year, including a monthly ballpark figure for your budget.

The tool also allows you to try out different scenarios and email the results to yourself, or save them as a PDF or csv file. Check out the calculator here.
